Activity Sampling data collection is design to be simple and unobtrusive requiring just a few seconds to complete. 

When the random time occurs for a data entry your PC will issue an audio prompt determined by the Project Administrator and the Data Entry screen will be presented.

The Data Entry screen presents the prompts to which you must respond by making selections from the dropdowns presented. In Activity Sampling the first response will be fixed for you by the Project Administrator and cannot be changed. To make entries you simply start from the second drop down and make selections from each dropdown in turn.

The Data Entry screen can contain between 2 and 8 prompts depending upon the configuration defined by the Project Administrator. The actual Profit Profiler browser window will automatically size to reflect the number of prompts on the screen.

Data in the drop downs may optionally be linked together by the Project Administrator during the project design. The linking of activities both speeds data entry and insures more accurate data collection.

Reminder Prompts and Missed Entries

The Project Administrator will have defined a time by which and entry must be made otherwise a missed entry will be recorded. A typical entry limit may be 5 to 7 minutes. This time will be displayed being counted down below the prompts in the Data Entry screen.

In addition, the Project Administrator will have defined a time at which, if no entry has been made, a reminder prompt will be issued. This time is always less than the missed entry time - for example 2 minutes prior to the missed entry time e.g. after 3 to 5 minutes in the typical 5 to 7 minute entry window.

Options on the Data Entry Screen

	Submit – first checks to insure that every prompt has a response. If not you will be advised that you must complete all entries. If all entries have been made they will be saved to the database and you will be returned to the Countdown screen to await the next random prompt.
	Exit – cancels the current data entry session and returns you to the Countdown screen to await the next random prompt. Please note that this option will record a missed entry since you will have failed to response to a requested prompt.
